Who We Are:  We are a group of young MSM in San Diego, primarily Latino or African American.  Through the CHIP program, we have formed a social group that we named "PUMP".  The focus of the group is to create a space where everyone feels free to express their individuality, make friends and find support to live your best life.

What We Do:  PUMP hosts regular social events with the aim of creating a safe, non-judgmental and fun space for young MSM to socialize.  Our events range from intimate discussions over coffee, to game nights, hiking, picnics and clubbing - see our event schedule below.  We do what our members are interested in, so new ideas for social activities are always encouraged, and most events are completely free.  In addition to our social events, many PUMP members also help the CHIP program during community outreach events, such as PRIDE, Out At The Fair and the Red Dress Event.  Interested in joining us?  Check out our events calendar below or check us out on Instagram @pump619.

Why We Do It:  Our group is based on the Mpowerment Project, which is an evidence-based intervention aimed at preventing HIV infections.  It has been specifically designed to address the needs of young MSM aged between 16 - 29 years old.  The project aims to mobilize young MSM to shape a healthy community for themselves, build positive social connections, and support their friends in order to maintain safe sexual practices.  For more information on the intervention, check out the Mpowerment website.
